Biography
Lindsay Lohan is an American actress and pop singer. She is best known for her role of both the twin sisters in The Parent Trap (1998). Her other notable films include Freaky Friday (2003) and Mean Girls (2004).
Lindsay Dee Lohan was born on July 2, 1986 in New York City. Her parents, Dina and Michael are both former actors. Lindsay was beautiful as a child and started modeling when she was just three years old. She went on to do several commercials for companies such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Wendy's, the Gap, Pizza Hut, and Calvin Klein as well as a Jell-O ad with Bill Cosby. In 1996, Lindsay played the role of Alexandra "Alli" Fowler for one season in the long-running soap opera on NBC, Another World.
In 1997, Lindsay got her big break when she was cast by director Nancy Meyers in the Disney remake of The Parent Trap (1961). That film had made Hayley Mills popular in the early '60s and now Lindsay was set to enter stardom with the film's 1998 version. Lindsay played the role of both twin sisters Hallie Parker and Annie James in the film. The film was very successful and Lindsay's performance was well appreciated. She shared the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress with Jena Malone.
Lindsay also landed a three-film contract. She next acted in the Disney comedy Life-Size (2000), along with supermodel Tyra Banks.
In 2002, Lindsay played the role of a snooty school gossip columnist in the Disney Channel Original Movie of the Month, Get a Clue. Following this film, she took a break from acting. She then ventured into music and signed a five-album contract with Estefan Enterprises in September that year.
Next in 2003, Lindsay acted in another Disney film Freaky Friday along with Jamie Lee Curtis. She also sang in the movie and her song Ultimate propelled the soundtrack to Billboard's Top 20.
In 2004, following her relocation to Los Angeles, Lindsay starred in the flop film Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. However, she made up that year with the hit Mean Girls. Later that year, she also released her debut album Speak, which reached # 4 on Billboard 200.
In December 2005, Lindsay released her second album A Little More Personal (Raw), which débuted at # 20 on the Billboard 200 chart.
In 2005, Lindsay did another Disney film, Herbie: Fully Loaded. The film did quite well internationally as well as in the US.
In 2006, Lindsay acted in Just My Luck. However, it did not do well. She bounced back the next month with the hit film A Prairie Home Companion.
On the personal front, Lindsay has been involved with Aaron Carter and Valderrama and is known for her partying.
