Biography

Haylie Duff is an American actress, singer, and songwriter. She is best known for her role in Lizzie McGuire on the Disney Channel and as the older sister of teen pop icon, Hilary Duff.

Haylie Duff was born on February 19, 1985 in Houston, Texas to Bob and Susan Duff. When she was very young, she along with her younger sister Hilary took up ballet and even toured with the Cechetti Ballet group. When she was ten years old, Haylie got interested in acting and music.

Haylie's television debut followed at the age of 12. She started off with a small, uncredited role in the mini series True Women. She soon landed the role of Martha Jean Pruitt in the made-for-television film Hope (1997).

In 1998, Haylie was cast as Gina Addams in the film Addams Family Reunion. That year, she also appeared in an episode of Amanda Bynes' The Amanda Show.

In 2000, Haylie made guest appearances on the popular show Chicago Hope. She also acted as Jessica in the film Dreams in the Attic.

In 2001, Haylie was seen in a couple of episodes of Boston Public. She also appeared as Wendy in the film The Newman Shower (2001).

In 2002, Haylie got a chance to work with her sister Hilary on Disney Channel's hit sitcom Lizzie McGuire. She was cast as Lizzie's (played by Hilary) cousin Amy in a couple of episodes. That year, she also sang in Hilary's Christmas album, Santa Claus Lane (2002).

In 2003, Haylie played the role of young Faith Mitchell in an episode of Third Watch. That year, she also landed a role in the film I Love Your Work. She also contributed to the soundtrack of The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003). She also wrote the songs, Sweet Sixteen and Inner Strength for Hilary's debut solo album Metamorphosis which was certified triple platinum.

In 2003, Haylie along with Hilary appeared as Weiss sisters from the girl band the Shangri-Las and performed their 1964 hit Leader of the Pack on an episode of American Dreams.

In 2004, the Duff sisters worked together on a remake of the Go-Go's 1981 hit Our Lips Are Sealed . It was featured on the soundtrack of A Cinderella Story (2004), starring Hilary. Haylie did a solo song, One In This World which was also featured on the soundtrack. Haylie also sang Whatever Life for the Disney Channel's made-for-television film Stuck in the Suburbs (2004) and Sweetest Pain for the film Raising Helen (2004).

In 2004, Haylie appeared in a guest role in That's So Raven. She also did a role as Summer Wheatley in the film Napoleon Dynamite. The film was a hit at the Sundance Film Festival and did well commercially too. Her other films include The After Killer (2004) and The House (2005).
