Biography

Jennifer Love Hewitt is an American actress and singer. She is best known for her role as Julie James in the I Know What You Did Last Summer films. She rose to fame with her role as Sarah Reeves in the series Party of Five.

Jennifer Love Hewitt was born on February 21, 1979 in Waco, Texas. Her parents, Herbert Daniel Hewitt and Patricia Mae Shipp got divorced when she was just six months old. Her mother then raised her. When Jennifer was just three, she sang The Greatest Love of All at a show. This was followed by many other performances and tours with the Texas Show Team. When she was just ten years old, she shifted to Los Angles with her mother to focus on her singing and acting career.

In 1989, Jennifer made her television debut when she started appearing on the Disney Channel variety show Kids Incorporated (1989–1991).

Jennifer also appeared in many commercials for products such as Barbie Dolls. In 1991, in a Barbie dance workout video, she sang the songs on the video. In 1992, she released her debut album Love Songs in Japan.

In 1992, Jennifer made her film debut with the children's film Munchie. Her first major film role came in 1993 as Margaret in the comedy Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit starring Lauryn Hill and Whoopi Goldberg. She also did her first starring role in 1993 in Little Miss Millions.

Thereafter, Jennifer worked on some short-lived television series. Her big break came in 1995 when she played the role of Sarah Reeves in the series Party of Five (1995-1999). The show made Jennifer a star and she produced a series based on Party of Five. She reprised her role in this new series but the series was not as successful and was cancelled after half a season.

Meanwhile, Jennifer worked in a string of movies that added to her star appeal. Notable among these include the thriller I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) and its sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998), Trojan War (1997), and high-school comedy Can't Hardly Wait (1998). She also released some music albums and graduated from Laurel Springs High.

In 2000, Hewitt starred in the lead role in The Audrey Hepburn Story, a made-for-television film. This was followed by a role in a lighter vein in the comedy Heartbreakers (2001) co-starring with Sigourney Weaver and Gene Hackman.

In 2001, Jennifer appeared in the hot video for Enrique Iglesias' hot video Hero.

In 2002, Jennifer sang at the Teen Choice Awards, her first American public singing performance. She followed this with the release of her album, Barenaked that had a cover with her in just about that. That year, she also starred in The Tuxedo opposite Jackie Chan.

In 2005, Jennifer starred in the television series Ghost Whisperer for which she got the Saturn nomination for best actress in 2006.
